偶然看到這個資料，滿有意思的 挪威知名的學者、探險家 同時也是1922年諾貝爾和平獎得主 Fridtjof Nansen（1861～1930） https://i.imgur.com/Kg2t4Lg.jpg （這人滿傳奇的 wiki：https://reurl.cc/XlLmLM 在其擔任 奧斯陸大學（當時稱 Royal Frederick University） 海洋學教授期間，所寫的一本著作： 『In Northern Mists ─ Arctic Exploration in Early Times』 https://i.imgur.com/hhK6KDa.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ERJaM1A.jpg https://i.imgur.com/5B5lADB.jpg 在第二冊的第十三章，記載著中世紀當時關於北歐的地圖與地理學記錄 包含阿拉伯世界的探險家、旅行者們，對北歐的敘述。 其中，第208頁記載著一位出身伊比利半島的地理學者 Ibn Sa'id al-Maghribi（1213～1286）（wiki：https://reurl.cc/82qNqo 其對冰島的描述：（英譯） https://i.imgur.com/mX0HORn.jpg https://i.imgur.com/o0A326I.jpg "Around it are small islands where the falcons are found. To the west lies the island of white falcons, its length from west to east is about seven days and its breadth about four days, and from it and from the small northern islands are obtained the white falcons, which are brought from here to the Sultan of Egypt, who pays from his treasury 1000 dinars for them, and if the falcon arrives dead the reward is 500 dinars. And in their country is the white bear, which goes out into the sea and swims and catches fish, and these falcons seize what is left over by it, or what it has let alone. And on this they live, since there are no [other] flying creatures there on account of the severity of the frost.
