※ 引述《realove (realove)》之銘言： : : 當愛因斯坦說： “Insofar as the propositions of mathematics give : : an account of reality they are not certain; and insofar as they are : : certain they do not describe reality … But it is, on the other : : hand, certain that mathematics in general and geometry in : : particular owe their existence to our need to learn something about : : the properties of real objects.” 根據這一段文字，請問愛因斯坦認 : : 為數學知識與物理知識有何不同？試解釋他的哲學觀點！ : 愛因斯坦大概意思是: : 用數學公式表達的科學定律 並不是對宰制世界的律則的真實描述 : 充其量而言 前者只能逼近真理(approximation to truth)而不能代表真理 : 這點跟Cartwright的想法是差不多的 對不起亂入一下，我覺得可以這樣翻： 數學理論的確說明了自然世界的現象，雖然其實數學理論並不確定 所謂自然世界是什麼； (the propositions of mathematics give an account of reality they are not certain) 反而數學理論可以確定的是，他們不是(有意)在描述自然世界(而是一個抽象 的公設世界)。 ( as they are certain they do not describe reality) 不過可以確定的是，數學大體而言(特別是幾何這一個分支)，是基於我們 想要理解真實世界的物體特性才被發展起來的(才存在)。 ( it is, on the other hand, certain that mathematics in general and geometry in particular owe their existence to our need to learn something about the properties of real objects) --- 我覺得他可能是有感於很多一開始很抽象的數學，後來都莫名奇妙發現跟 現實產生關聯：像黎曼幾何這種一開始看似沒實際對應的抽象架構，後來 居然變成了描述宇宙的最佳語言。 --
