標題[求譯] 想請問幾個句子的翻譯

1. The slow progress on this project is a cause for concern.
2. At the exposition, there was a large collection of various machines
that drew the public's interest.
3. What you have to do is sit by the baby and read to her.

我的試譯與提問：
1、這個計畫進度緩慢令人擔憂(關切)
ps: 我有查過 cause for 應該是 "理由" 的意思，但我想把這個意思翻出來感覺
整個句子就不順暢了
2、 我主要想問 a large collection of various machines 應該怎麼翻？
我本來以為是"大量集中的…" 但這樣為什麼用單數動詞 was ？
3、What you have to do 是名詞子句， 那一個句子裡為什麼可以有 is 跟 sit
兩個動詞？還有，sit by the baby and read to her 是"坐在嬰兒旁邊讀給她聽"
的意思嗎？
請高手幫我解惑，謝謝
