标题[求译] 想请问几个句子的翻译

求中译
1. The slow progress on this project is a cause for concern.
2. At the exposition, there was a large collection of various machines
that drew the public's interest.
3. What you have to do is sit by the baby and read to her.

我的试译与提问：
1、这个计画进度缓慢令人担忧(关切)
ps: 我有查过 cause for 应该是 "理由" 的意思，但我想把这个意思翻出来感觉
整个句子就不顺畅了
2、 我主要想问 a large collection of various machines 应该怎麽翻？
我本来以为是"大量集中的…" 但这样为什麽用单数动词 was ？
3、What you have to do 是名词子句， 那一个句子里为什麽可以有 is 跟 sit
两个动词？还有，sit by the baby and read to her 是"坐在婴儿旁边读给她听"
的意思吗？
请高手帮我解惑，谢谢
