The cytotoxic effects of these compounds were accompanied by the concentration- and time-dependent appearance of DNA- and nuclear-fragmentation, increase in the percentage of sub-G1 cells, and processing of multiple caspases and poly(ADP-ribose)polymerase cleavage.
