標題[問題] mutant 的基因

我看一篇PAPER
在 N. sylvestris(菸草) 的mutant line中
要去clone 一個mutated gene
作者使用另一物種的此gene 去做探針
再對此mutant line做Southern
把有訊號的膠切下來純化 去做clone
我的問題是 為何要用另一個物種的此同源基因去做探針
而不用 N. sylvestris 的wild type的此基因做探針去釣就好???
