标题[问题] mutant 的基因

我看一篇PAPER
在 N. sylvestris(菸草) 的mutant line中
要去clone 一个mutated gene
作者使用另一物种的此gene 去做探针
再对此mutant line做Southern
把有讯号的胶切下来纯化 去做clone
我的问题是 为何要用另一个物种的此同源基因去做探针
而不用 N. sylvestris 的wild type的此基因做探针去钓就好???
