标题[文法] 最高级後接的单复数名词

想请问各位漫威电影中一句台词
萨诺斯说：「The hardest choices require the strongest wills.」
为什麽这句不是用单数呈现呢？
「The hardest choice requires the strongest will.」
最高级的使用方式不是
「The 最高级+单数名词」
或是
「one of the 最高级+复数名词」
这两种吗？
想请问为什麽这句台词使用第一种句型，结果後面却是单数。
是单纯的文法错误，还是以英文口语上并没有严格的限制？
