标题[文法] 词典中的"by passion not common sense"

大家好，请问一下。
在Cambridge Business English Dictionary看到这样的例句：
pain and suffering
noun
in the US legal system, the emotional suffering caused by one person or
organization to another person:
He claimed the jury's pain-and-suffering award of $15.5 million was motivated
by passion not common sense.

想问的是"...by passion not common sense "这里，是不是要加上一个逗号，写成
"...by passion, not common sense "比较好？
因为读的时候总觉得，"...was motivated by passion"到这里都就已经很完整了，如果
再直接加上" not common sense "就好像多出来的。而从语气来看，好像也会有停顿才对
？（....是出自於激情，而非常理）
