标题[文法] 请教句构分析

在报纸上看到一篇新闻，介绍简爱又再度翻拍成电影。其中有一句:
"What makes a classic a classic is that the story always has relevance to
whatever generation is reading it."
(经典之所以为经典，是因为故事总是和....有关)
黄色部份文法好像怪怪的!?(generation和is间是否应该加一个that)，
整句话又该怎麽翻译呢?
