遇到好些解决不了的问题，想在这里请教大家： 1. Blame is thrown around fast and furiously. 上下文是在讨论一般人生气时会做的几种行为，blaming是其中之一。 请问这里的 "thrown around" 是什麽意思呢？ 2. Perhaps you've preached the detrimental effects of smoking, demonized hard drink or hard living, or simply that like Mark Twain said, "Golf is a good walk spoiled," to the sixty-two-hole-playing reprobate? 上下文讲到一般人生气时的另一种行为：preaching，这段话里举了一些例子。 请问这里的 "the sixty-two-hole-playing reprobate" 可能是指什麽呢？ 我怎麽查都查不出来... 3. 当某个人责问另一个人 "How much did you have to drink？" 请问这样的责问方式，中文是什麽意思呢？ 我的理解是 "那时你得喝多少" 之类的，但这样子的中文句子很怪... 4. 某个人生气的时候 "get big" 或 "get large"， 这是什麽意思呢？ 5. The distancer has one foot in and one foot out of every conflict, confrontation, and argument. 这句话是在形容用疏远来面对愤怒的人， 请问这里的 "one foot in and one foot out" 是什麽意思呢？ 6. There's a tool that can turn a rager into a person who talks, acts, thinks and feels like what indigenous cultures refer to as "human beings". 请问这里的 "what indigenous cultures refer to as human beings"， 可能是什麽意思呢？ 7. I never say I'll be retiring from teaching college in two years. 这句是 "我从没说过我两年内就会辞去师范学院的教书工作" 的意思吗？ 8. My father grilled me when he caught me when he found marihuana in my chest of drawers. We haven't spoken two words since. 请问 "We haven't spoken two words since"， 是指 "自此之後我们就很少说话了" 吗？ 9. Too much money can make one regress. Before you balk at that statement, think of the history and statistics of lottery winners. 上下文在讲的是，无论是什麽事情都过犹不及，而钱太多会让人退化。 　 请问这里的 "balk at" 是什麽意思呢？ 10. A too-long visit with our parents leaves us wanting a blanky and a bottle. 请问这里的 "a blanky and a bottle" 是指 "一条被被和一瓶牛奶" 吗？ 其中隐喻的意思又是什麽呢？ （上下文同样是在讲 "无论是什麽事情都过犹不及"； 　　　而这里应该有 "探望父母的时间太长，彼此之间就会开始起冲突" 的意思。） 11. Rachel 通常是女子名，请问也可能是男子名吗？ 　　若是举例说明伴侣之间的相处情况时，说 "Julie and Rachel"， 那麽 Rachel 应该也是女子，对吗？ 12. Americans are working harder and longer and with less vacation time than ever. Cost of living rises while jobs are scarce and salaries decline. Work is outsourced to other countries. The average American worker is scared, exhausted, disconnected. 请问这里的 disconnected 是什麽意思呢？ 13. When illness strikes maturity, rationality, reasonability, sound judgement and decision making go right out the door of the sickroom. 一直觉得这句话的文法怪怪的，有种少了下半句的感觉。请问是我理解错误吗？ 而其中 "go right out the door of the sickroom" 的主词， 是 decision making 吗？ 14. The principal is out today but he will deal with you Wednesday. 若是这是妈妈对孩子说的话，而且没有其他上下文， 那麽 "deal with you" 是 "等到礼拜三就有你好看的" 的意思吗？ 15. The wife says to the husband, "Honey, we need to talk." The husband is immediately on guard and responds spontaneously, "For how long?" "Oh just thirty minutes or so," she says. "Thirty minutes," and the husband would say something like, "And I suppose you want me to listen the whole time." 请问最後丈夫说的 "I suppose you want me to listen the whole time"， 是因为自己懒得讲话，所以说 "我只要听就好了对不对？"， 还是在怪老婆 "每次都是你一直讲，我都没有说话的余地" 呢？ 16. My wife should call her mother and work out her issues. 若上下文是在讲，一般人常常自认为知道别人该做什麽， 　　而这句话是作者举的例子之一。 　请问其中的 "her issues" 是指老婆与她妈妈之间的一些争执或冲突吗？ （不然为何认为老婆该打电话的对象是 "her mother" 呢？） 17. 上下文讲到，当我们对某个家人生气、但需要对他说话时， 　　可能会透过另一个家人传话，这样子在三人之间就形成了一个三角形的关系； 　　而有时候在一个家庭里可能会形成很多个这种三角关系。 　　These triangles become "the tangled web we weave" because we are actually being deceptive through omission and we are depriving ourselves and others of the benefits adults can have by speaking directly to those we need to speak to. 请问这里的 "we are being deceptive throught omission" 可能是什麽意思呢？ 18. 承上一题，the damage done by "going behind their back", or "going through the back door," or "taking the roundabout way" gets everyone involved a little or a lot angry. 请问 "going behind their back" 是在 "别人背後捅他一刀" 的意思吗？ 疑问很多，先谢谢各位了~~ --
