因為之前翻譯課有上過這一首詩 對於那時苦惱斟酌的心情仍記憶猶新 雖然這首詩的用字簡單 但卻用得非常精準，深刻，而且動人 翻譯沒有所謂的標準答案 只能無限趨近，卻無法等同 所以我只就一些看法不太一樣的地方作回應吧 （前言太長了，抱歉XD） ※ 引述《kamadevas (蔗尾蜂房)》之銘言： : [棄的藝術] 你的文章中一度用了「失落的藝術」，那是別人的翻法嗎？ 用「棄」（losing）一字比較有中文的味道，也比較簡潔有力 你下面的詩行也有用「棄」跟「毀」來作對照 但我自己則比較偏好「失去」的翻法 因為棄的感覺是主動積極的，而我對詩的解讀是一種對失去的無可奈何又故作鎮定 不過你當然可以把「棄」視為一種瀟灑:P : --Elizabeth Bishop(1911-1979) : 棄的藝術其實並不難精通； : 太多事情充滿了被毀棄的潛力 : 彷彿毀棄了並不是什麼慘劇。 : 每日一棄。坦然接受這意亂情迷 : 於大門鑰匙弄丟之際，時間就這樣糟蹋了。 : 棄的藝術其實並不難精通。 : 然後練習毀得更多，棄得更快： : 熟悉的地點與名字，或一些地方你曾想 : 一探究竟。這些都算不上是慘劇。 : 弄丟了母親傳給我的錶，唉呀！我最愛、 : 或次愛的最後三棟房子也沒了。 記得之前上課討論這個或許是最難翻的句子了 last and next-to-last，中文怎麼翻似乎都難免累贅>< : 其實棄的藝術並不難精通。 : 我拋棄了兩座城市，可愛的雙城，不只這樣， : 還有我的幾塊領地，兩條河流，一整片神州大陸。 : 我懷念它們，但這並不是什麼慘劇。 : ——失去你也沒什麼了不起(嘻笑的語氣，我最愛扮的 : 嘴臉)縱然我不該強顏歡笑。但很明顯的 the gesture I love我覺得應該是「你」的gesture？ : 棄的藝術其實並不難精通 : 縱然看起來(這句要抄下來！)看起來像災難。 最後一句是我最愛的部份 之前的舖陳或「逞強」？都在write it被收束停頓了 前面所不斷重覆的The art of losing isn't hard to master的意義在最後一刻被翻轉 而全詩的重量就因為write it而落到Bishop真正的、想抑壓的心情:like disaster 所以我記得我那時候的"write it"是簡單地翻成：寫吧！ 那是Bishop對那個想要漠然處之的自己所發出的吶喊 PS.我的英文不好，中文也不太行～＞＜若有錯誤請指正。 PS2.(!!)看到你blog裡還有將中詩翻英，真是太神了～佩服佩服！你的中英文都很好耶！ 強者一名！ : [One Art] : The art of losing isn't hard to master; : so many things seem filled with the intent : to be lost that their loss is no disaster. : Lose something every day.
