因为之前翻译课有上过这一首诗 对於那时苦恼斟酌的心情仍记忆犹新 虽然这首诗的用字简单 但却用得非常精准，深刻，而且动人 翻译没有所谓的标准答案 只能无限趋近，却无法等同 所以我只就一些看法不太一样的地方作回应吧 （前言太长了，抱歉XD） ※ 引述《kamadevas (蔗尾蜂房)》之铭言： : [弃的艺术] 你的文章中一度用了「失落的艺术」，那是别人的翻法吗？ 用「弃」（losing）一字比较有中文的味道，也比较简洁有力 你下面的诗行也有用「弃」跟「毁」来作对照 但我自己则比较偏好「失去」的翻法 因为弃的感觉是主动积极的，而我对诗的解读是一种对失去的无可奈何又故作镇定 不过你当然可以把「弃」视为一种潇洒:P : --Elizabeth Bishop(1911-1979) : 弃的艺术其实并不难精通； : 太多事情充满了被毁弃的潜力 : 彷佛毁弃了并不是什麽惨剧。 : 每日一弃。坦然接受这意乱情迷 : 於大门钥匙弄丢之际，时间就这样糟蹋了。 : 弃的艺术其实并不难精通。 : 然後练习毁得更多，弃得更快： : 熟悉的地点与名字，或一些地方你曾想 : 一探究竟。这些都算不上是惨剧。 : 弄丢了母亲传给我的表，唉呀！我最爱、 : 或次爱的最後三栋房子也没了。 记得之前上课讨论这个或许是最难翻的句子了 last and next-to-last，中文怎麽翻似乎都难免累赘>< : 其实弃的艺术并不难精通。 : 我抛弃了两座城市，可爱的双城，不只这样， : 还有我的几块领地，两条河流，一整片神州大陆。 : 我怀念它们，但这并不是什麽惨剧。 : ——失去你也没什麽了不起(嘻笑的语气，我最爱扮的 : 嘴脸)纵然我不该强颜欢笑。但很明显的 the gesture I love我觉得应该是「你」的gesture？ : 弃的艺术其实并不难精通 : 纵然看起来(这句要抄下来！)看起来像灾难。 最後一句是我最爱的部份 之前的舖陈或「逞强」？都在write it被收束停顿了 前面所不断重覆的The art of losing isn't hard to master的意义在最後一刻被翻转 而全诗的重量就因为write it而落到Bishop真正的、想抑压的心情:like disaster 所以我记得我那时候的"write it"是简单地翻成：写吧！ 那是Bishop对那个想要漠然处之的自己所发出的呐喊 PS.我的英文不好，中文也不太行～＞＜若有错误请指正。 PS2.(!!)看到你blog里还有将中诗翻英，真是太神了～佩服佩服！你的中英文都很好耶！ 强者一名！ : [One Art] : The art of losing isn't hard to master; : so many things seem filled with the intent : to be lost that their loss is no disaster. : Lose something every day.
