It began to bleed a drop, a flow, a stripe, And then a cascade too difficult to wipe. He was too shocked to think he had read How to stop the blood when he bled. The cut hurt him so much; he nearly swooned And grasped a cleaver to slice off the wound, And called his wives to come to drill, to sever, And to say goodbye to the cut for ever, So four shining blades kept going up and down Until nothing on his face can be named as a noun.
