His father, Yong Lin, is not just the first elected mayor in Anping, but also the pioneer to write down the history of Anping. In both of his literary works, 台灣城懷古集 and 台灣城懷古續集, he kept very detailed record of the change throughout the Dutch colonial period and Ming dynasty. These two books are the must-read masterpiece which the scholars research the contemporary history of Anping. Hsi-Tien Lin inherited his father's spirit of careful attitude and critical thinking. He was not only committed to collecting and compiling the historical materials and books of the local folk culture, but also actively promoting the development of community building and ecological industries. --
