This bittersweet smash topped the country chart for five weeks in late 2009. It hit #2 on the Hot 100 in early 2010. It won Grammys for Record and Song of the Year, Best Country Song and Best Country Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group. 2. Taylor Swift "Love Story"(2008) 4,962,000. This is the best-selling country hit by a female solo artist. Swift's 2009 hit topped the country chart for two weeks and reached #4 on the pop chart. The elegant, Romeo And Juliet-themed video won a CMA Award for Music Video of the Year. 3. Taylor Swift "You Belong With Me"(2009) 3,682,000. Swift's 2009 song, the follow-up to "Love Story," topped the country chart for two weeks and reached #2 on the pop chart. The smash received Grammy nominations for Record and Song of the Year. The story of an unrequited high school crush is universal. The happy ending in the video is heartwarming. 4. Carrie Underwood "Before He Cheats"(2006) 3,191,000. Underwood toughened up her sound on this revenge saga, which topped the country chart for five weeks in late 2006. It reached #8 on the Hot 100 in 2007. The song won a Grammy for Song of the Year and was nominated for Song of the Year. Underwood also won for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. 5. Taylor Swift "Our Song"(2007) 2,781,000. Swift's song, the follow-up to "Teardrops On My Guitar," topped the country chart for six weeks in late 2007 and early 2008. It hit #16 on the Hot 100. 6. Zac Brown Band "Chicken Fried"(2008) 2,662,000. Brown's ode to the "little things in life" topped the country chart for two weeks in December 2008. It hit #20 on the Hot 100. 7. Taylor Swift "Teardrops On My Guitar"(2007) 2,585,000. Swift's 2007 hit reached #2 on the country chart and #13 on the Hot 100. She would revisit the theme of an unrequited teen crush on "You Belong With Me." 8. Rascal Flatts "Life Is A Highway"(2006) 2,557,000. This song, from the animated movie Cars, is the best-selling country hit that was recorded for a movie. The 2006 hit has a punchy pop-rock sound that is closer to Nickelback than Nickel Creek, which explains why it climbed higher on the pop chart (#7) than it did on the country chart (#18). 9. Rascal Flatts "Bless The Broken Road"(2004) 2,237,000. This philosophical song topped the country chart for five weeks in early 2005. It hit #29 on the Hot 100.
