Dear all,
Please take a look of the instructions I put on the internet hard disk to
prepare for the final presentations.
It's a little complicated. Ask me questions in class if you have any.
First go to Hard Disk II, then use key word AFL ETG, then you will be able to
find it.

Project Presentation
Instructions
The Preparation:
In view of the fact that this task is our grand finale, that all
presentations will be videotaped to be made into a permanent record, and that
there will be visitors from other classes, please do spend some time take
care of the details.
The Day of the Presentation:
Presenters: PLEASE COME 15 MINUTES EARLIER. (7:45 a.m.)
Time: 8:00-10:00
Room: 106 White House
Dates: 12/16, 12/23, 12/30
Dress code: business casual; semi-formal.
(Add make-up and accessories if possible.)
Host/Hostess: PLEASE COME 15 MINUTES EARLIER. (7:45 a.m.)
Please make sure the room is available two days before presentation day.
Check out the room key the day before if necessary.
Please arrive before 7:45 and open the door for everybody to enter.
Camera Crew: PLEASE COME 10 MINUTES EARLIER. (7:50 a.m.)
Please check out the equipments (DV, tapes, extension cords, etc.) the day
before if necessary.
Please make sure the equipments work.
Everybody Else: PLEASE COME ON TIME.
Tasks: being a good listener (which includes doing the “C & C” as described
below), doing the evaluation, and writing the comments. (See below for
details.)
The Evaluation:
You are asked to evaluate all of the presentations for all the three sessions
of except your own.
1. You will be evaluating each presentation on a 25-point scale. That is to
say, the highest point that you may give a speech is 25.
2. If you are more used to holistic scoring, just ask yourself the question:
To what extent does the presentation make you better informed of the
attraction introduced?
3. If you prefer analytical scoring, the 25 points should be equally shared
by the 4 general criteria for speech evaluation and one additional criterion
on how much the presentation makes you interested. That is to say, 5 points
are for content, 5 are for organization, 5 are for language, another 5 are
for delivery, and the last 5 for how much you would like to visit the
attraction introduced after the presentation.
4. Do give a wide range of scores. The wider the range is, the more valid
this evaluation is in terms of its discriminating function.
5. Turn in the evaluation sheet as soon as the last presentation at each
meeting is finished.
The Written Comments:
In addition, you are also responsible of writing comments for at least 4
presentations in each session.
1. You must write comments for 4 speakers at each session. The way for you to
find out for whom you are assigned to write is this: (A) find your own name
in the table below, (B) find the number on the (far) left of your name, (C)
write for the speaker whose order/number of presentation is your own number
plus one, plus two, and/or plus three. In other words, the formula for the
speakers that you must write comment for is: Speaker Number = Your Own Number
+ n (1< n< 3). If the number you get is more than 8, then minus 8. In other
words, the formula becomes: Speaker Number = Your Own Number + n - 8(1< n< 3).

For example: Stephanie’s number is 1. Therefore, on 12/16, she will be
writing comments for Sabrina (1+1), Lily (1+2), and Justin (1+3). Similarly,
on 12/23, she will be writing for Alvin, Ryan, and Donald. And on 12/30, it’
s Jennifer, Lydia Y, and Jonathan.
3. Make sure you know for whom you must write the comments before the
presentations begin.
4. In addition, select at least 1 extra presentation and write comments. The
presenters would appreciate your comment.
5. Give the comments to the presenters when all presentations are done.
The “C & C”:
That’s cheers and compliments.
Of course spontaneous encouragement from anybody anytime is more than
welcome. But we still want to designate cheerleaders for every presenter to
ensure that it is done. When you are one of the designated cheerleaders for a
particular presenter, make sure you say a few encouraging words (with a loud,
clear, and up-beat tone) before and/or after his/her speech. Some examples of
the encouraging words could be: Excellent! Well done! Outstanding! Very
Interesting! (Or, Good hairdo! Nice tie! You are amazing! Whatever you think
fit.)
You have to lead the cheers for one speaker at each session. The formula for
the speakers that you have to lead the cheers is:
Speaker Number = Your Own Number + 4
For example, Stephanie will do the cheers for Lydia W, Roxy, and Carmen on
each of three days respectively.
