Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? 若我用夏天將你來做比方， Thou art more lovely and more temperate; 你比夏天更可愛也更溫良； Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, 夏天的熱風會催落五月的花苞， And Summer's lease hath all too short a date: 夏天的期限也未免太匆忙； Sometimes too hot the eye of heaven shines, 有時太陽如炬火使人間酷熱難當， And often is his gold complexion dimm'd; 但轉眼間有烏雲遮蓋了他金色的面龐； And every fair from fair sometimes declines, 美好的事物最終都會凋零落敗， By chance, or nature's changing courese untrimm'd' 或見棄於機緣，或隨自然而消亡。 But thy eternal summer shall not fade, 然而你的夏季卻永垂不朽， Not lose possession of that fair thou ow'st, 你俊美的形像也永露光芒； Nor shall death brag thou wander'st in his shade, 死神不能說你在他的陰影裡流蕩， When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st; 只因你永記在我那不朽的詩行。 So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see, 只要人能呼吸，眼能看得清， So long lives this, and this gives life to thee. 我的詩就能不朽，萬世留芳。 這首十四行詩可說是莎翁的代表作。它歌頌友誼之可貴；夏天雖美好， 但不及友誼之可愛及溫良。然而友誼再美好卻好不過詩人自己不朽的 詩篇。詩人喻言他的詩必夏天更能長遠，因為夏天只是一年中的一季 ，比起友誼更珍貴，因為友誼只能傳一代，人死情滅，但他的詩，卻 能萬代相傳；只要人能呼吸，眼能看清，他的詩就將永遠存在，萬世 留芳。莎翁這首詩，可以說是一首歌頌文學可與時間抗衡的傑作。 《西洋情詩精選》 尹浩鏐 --
