Jelena Jankovic has won the third point for Serbia in the Fed Cup play-offs against Spain, which means the national team will play in the 2010 edition of Fed Cup World Group. The world’s number four beat Anabel Medina Garrigues 6-3 3-6 6-3 in Lleida to bring Serbia team a first ever chance to compete among the world’s top-tier women’s tennis teams next year. Moreover, the team have avenged the Davis Cup team’s defeat to Spain, while this defeat on home soil to Serbia means Spain Fed Cup team will play in a lower-league competition for the first time ever. After the first day of the tie, Dejan Vranes’ team were on a 2-0 lead, ensured by the respective singles wins from Jelena Jankovic and Ana Ivanovic over Maria Jose Sanchez and Anabel Medina Garrigues. All Serbia needed after the first day was just one more point from the remaining rubbers. It came when Jelena Jankovic managed to clinch a hard-earned win over Medina Garrigues after a serve winner. - “When I won that last point, we were all so happy, we jumped on each other and just started screaming.
