剛續約的古鐵（Jonas Gutierrez），認為同寢好友捲毛隊長（Fabricio Coloccini）
也準備要續約了。他開心地對鏡報晚報說：
"Colo and I love life at Newcastle and want to spend our best years here.
「捲毛和我很享受在紐卡的生活。我們想要把最精華的時期貢獻在此。」
"Since Newcastle returned to the Premier League,
Colo has been in great form. This wasn't a surprise for me
because I played against him many times in La Liga
when he was at Depor and I was at Real Mallorca.
「紐卡重回英超後，捲毛的表現就一直非常出色，這讓我灰長地不意外啦。」
「畢竟我也和他在西甲對決過－－那時他在拉科、我在皇家馬洛卡踢球。」
"He is a very important player for us.
He is doing really well as captain and he has a big experience
of playing in first-class matches."
「他對我們而言是非常重要的一員。他身為隊長，做得好極了，
而且他擁有許多頂級賽事的出賽經驗。」
關於馬娃（Sylvain Marveaux）在左邊鋒位置上的競爭..
"It's okay, I never care about competition for place, it is good
for football. Everywhere I have played I have done so with competition.
I always do my best, and competition is also good for other players.
「這沒問題，我從不去在意位置上的競爭與否，畢竟這對比賽來說不是什麼壞事。」
「不管我踢哪裡，我都面臨過競爭者的壓力，我只求盡我所能。」
「（同一個位置的）競爭，也有助於其他球員（的成長）。」
"I have the opportunity to do my best from the start of the season.
I hope that I am prepared for that but we must find good results as well."
「我有機會開季就先發至今，來盡力做我能做到的事情。」
「我希望我已經準備好面對競爭了，但追根究柢，讓球隊同時取得好成果才是重點。」
