When he is good, Chico can get a ton of ground-ball outs. When he's bad, he walks a lot of batters and opponents have an easy time hitting his fastball. Chico will be the first to say that he can't throw just his fastball to get by. All of his pitches have to be working to be effective. Washington has seen both sides of Chico this spring. He may have to start the season in the Minor Leagues. 1. Once he signed with the Nationals in late February, Hernandez had to get into pitching shape and didn't play in an exhibition game until Sunday against Cardinals. He pitched three innings, gave up one earned run and walked three batters. His next start will be Friday in an intrasquad game. 2. Martin: Like Mock, Martin has pitched to contact and hasn't allowed a walk in two games. Keep in mind that he was hurt by rainouts and had to pitch on the team's Minor League field. Manager Jim Riggleman hasn't ruled out Martin being a long man out of the bullpen. 3. J.D. On Tuesday, Stammen helped himself even further by having his best outing of the spring, giving up two unearned runs in four innings against the Marlins. He must continue to pitch well if he wants to stay on the team. There is a possibility Stammen could be a long man out of the bullpen. Besides the one spot left in the rotation, there are only two spots to determine in the bullpen. 5. Chaig Stammen： 去年由於他在右手肘的地方有許多小碎骨，近一步影響了他的投球表現因此大量失分。 這個禮拜二他出賽對上馬林魚，投了4局僅僅失掉2分非自責分，這是他在春訓期間表現 最好的一次，同時也對他目前的情勢也所幫助。如果他想要在開季能夠留在球隊陣中， 那他就必須持續擁有這樣優異的表現。由於輪值中至少要有一位左投手，因此實際上 在牛棚裡只剩下兩個位置。 第一句真正的意思是去年帶傷投球讓球團對他的好感度上升不少， （這似乎不符合米國人保護投手的習性，不過這句意思就是這樣， 大概去年實在已經沒投手了吧，死也要撐一下） one spot left in the rotation 跟左右投手無關，是說先發 還缺一人，而牛棚只剩下兩個位置。 大致如此，也請指教。 --
