臺大莎士比亞學術活動 Joseph Graves Artistic Director, Institute of World Theatre and Film, Peking University 北京大學外國戲劇與電影研究所藝術總監 Joseph Graves is currently the artistic director of the Peking University's Institute of World Theatre and Film in Beijing, China. Prior to his position in China, Graves spent his professional life as a director, writer and actor for both theatre and film in Great Britain and America. He has directed and /or performed in over 60 Shakespearean productions in Great Britain, America, and China, and has impersonated Hamlet, Henry V, King Lear, Richard III, Macbeth, Richard II, Antony, Brutus, Leontes, Romeo, Mercutio, Petruchio, along with many other roles. Graves has also written extensively for film and stage. 1. Lecture 1: Shakespeare from Page to Stage　 This lecture offers a brief synopsis of Shakespeare’s history and his impact on the English language, but concerns itself primarily with the art and craft of acting as it relates to getting the bard off the page and up on a stage in performance. Solo Performance: Revel’s World of Shakespeare Written and performed by Joseph Graves Graves draws heavily on his considerable personal experiences with Shakespearean plays and study for the play’s articulations. This lecture deals with two distinctly different approaches to the works of William Shakespeare, those of the academic, and those of the performer.
