標題[請益] onomatopoeia

我和美國網友講到台灣的狗叫聲是"Wang!" 他問我"Wang"是不是onomatopoeia,我想汪
是擬聲詞吧!就說是啊! 可是過了幾天他去問一個香港朋友(在香港時學校都用英文，
大學在美國念，並已經在美國住了好幾年)，那個人卻說wang不是onomatopoeia(
She said wang is the word to describe a dog barking but it is not an
onomatopoeia.She said the Chinese word for the sound a cat makes is an
onomatopoeia. Meow is the word we use that sounds like a cat purring.
Meow is an onomatopoeia but purr is not.)
然後我覺得很疑惑，為什麼喵是，汪不是，還是我們之間有什麼誤會?譬如香港的
狗不叫"汪"?謝謝!
