标题[请益] onomatopoeia

我和美国网友讲到台湾的狗叫声是"Wang!" 他问我"Wang"是不是onomatopoeia,我想汪
是拟声词吧!就说是啊! 可是过了几天他去问一个香港朋友(在香港时学校都用英文，
大学在美国念，并已经在美国住了好几年)，那个人却说wang不是onomatopoeia(
She said wang is the word to describe a dog barking but it is not an
onomatopoeia.She said the Chinese word for the sound a cat makes is an
onomatopoeia. Meow is the word we use that sounds like a cat purring.
Meow is an onomatopoeia but purr is not.)
然後我觉得很疑惑，为什麽喵是，汪不是，还是我们之间有什麽误会?譬如香港的
狗不叫"汪"?谢谢!
