※ 引述《layles (羽球比正妹還正)》之銘言： : ※ 引述《ccshan (善終結)》之銘言： : : 一般分辨的一個辦法是前句 negate 以後是否還能接後句。 : : 例如 Tom is not bigger than Mary : : 或 It is not the case that Tom is bigger than Mary : : 就不能接 Mary is smaller than Tom : : 但 The minister does not blame her secretary for leaking the memo to the press : : 或 It is not the case that the minister blames her secretary for leaking the memo to the press : : 就可接 The memo was leaked to the press : 我有兩個問題想請教一下。 : 1. 如果如大大所說的，那我可以說presupposition和entailment是in complementary : distribution嗎? 根據ccshan板友的解釋,應該說在使用negation的"測試"上 presupposition跟entailment會成complementary distribution 因為presupposition是假設有一個proposition p 不論p的真假值為真or假,則永遠純在一個proposition q為真 因此即使否定p, q依然永遠為真 相對的entailment的概念則是p→q,若p為真則q為真, 因此否定p,則不一定存在一個q為真 所以這兩者(presupposition跟entailment)在negation的測試上剛好相反 但是通常不會說這兩者直接是complementary distribution的關係 當然或許有命題是可以讓這兩者剛好成complementary distribution的 不過我現在想不到這種情況XD : 2. 另外在entailment上的定義有一點是the reverse dose not follow.我一直對 : 這一個條件是否是必要的感到困惑。舉原po的例子，"瑪麗比湯姆矮"就可以推回去 : "湯姆比瑪麗高"是成立的。這不能符合entailment上的the reverse doesn't follow。 : 所以是否the reverse doesn't follow這個條件不是必要的，只要上句能推下句，並且 : 上句否定之後不能接下句就是entailment嗎? 還是說瑪麗那句不是entailment? : 請大大指點一下，謝謝! 關於這點 既然entailment是p→q的關係 有的時候也會有這種情形 p←→q 這樣就變成題目的情形 湯姆比瑪麗高←→瑪麗比湯姆矮 我忘了這個叫做什麼 是某種互相的entailment? 還請版友補充 囧> 這種時候因為p跟q互相entail,所以the reverse does not follow大概不能用在這 你說的 the reverse does not follow 應該是指在p→q的情況下reverse過來 不一定q→p永遠成立 e.g.:天下雨→地濕了 並不一定 地濕了→天下雨 p.s. 關於entailment跟presupposition這種implicational relation 有一本書寫的還不錯, Chierchia and McConnell-Ginet寫的Meaning and Grammar 我記得在滿前面的章節就做了很棒的介紹,當然在後面的章節也有更清楚的討論 可以參考一下:) --
