There are things shown on television these days that would never have appeared not too long ago. Words are used that were forbidden, and graphic images and situations are commonplace. We have all become somewhat numb to these things. Sometimes when you see too much of something, it can desensitize you. You have immersed yourself in a climate of some kind that is stressful and anxious, and it has caused you to become more emotionally distant in recent weeks. You need to "detoxify" this experience.
