Jack Phillips,radio operator aboard the Titanic,relayed both CQD and SOS calls to be sure that there wouldn't be any misunderstanding.However,his message fell on deaf ears.The rudeness with which Philips brushed off warnings of icebergs,had prompted the wireless operator on the nearby Californian to switch off the radio.Only in the wake of the Titanic disaster did a universal set of distress calls surface. 這是最近上托福課程上到一篇文章,我有疑問的是中間那段 The rudeness with which Philips brushed off warnings of icebergs,had prompted the wireless operator on the nearby Californian to switch off the radio.我的疑問是which為什麼前面 要有個with,我們老師跟我解釋說The rudeness是指"Philips先生他發出了訊號,卻沒有 人理會",可是我實在搞不懂,明明句子的結構應該是"The rudensee had prompted..to switch off the radio" which是關係代名詞引導Philips brushed off warnings of icebergs,所以按照我的思維The rudeness是指Philips先生不接受有冰山的警告, 為什麼老師的說法跟我不一樣,另,照我的想法,which不必在前面放介係詞阿, 為什麼這邊會有個介係詞 with??? 我們老師是說...which 的先行詞是The rudeness沒錯,它只不過多出個with 而已 .....但是這樣說我就越覺得奇怪了,with有什麼功用嗎?? 不然為什麼在先行詞和介係 詞之間要加with??不是多此一舉嗎?? 雖然我問了老師 可是對文章卻越來越模糊 麻煩這邊的高手哥哥姊姊幫我解答 ^ ^ --
