Songaila, who is entering his second season in the NBA, averaged 4.6 points (.487 FG%, .807 FT%) and 3.1 rebounds per game over 73 outings, of which he started seven, for the Kings last year (2003-04) as a rookie. Originally drafted by the Boston Celtics in the second round (50th overall) of the 2002 NBA Draft, Songaila opted to play for team CSKA Moscow of the Russian A Superleague where he averaged 12.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 2002-03. He led his team to the 2003 Euroleague Final Four and earned Eurobasket first-team all-league honors. The Kings acquired Songaila via a 2003 NBA Draft Day trade with the Celtics in exchange for the draft rights of two second-round picks (2003 and 2005). In international competition, Songaila helped lead the Lithuanian National Team to a gold medal at the 2003 European Championship in Sweden. He scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds against Spain in the finale. He will be a member of Lithuania’s National Team in the Olympics this summer. Songaila enjoyed a four-year career at Wake Forest, averaging 14.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game through 130 contests. He finished his career with the Demon Deacons ranked eighth in school history in rebounds (813), ninth in points (1,859) and second in games played (130). --
