In fact, there are similar closeups of the Rumbum, Levan, Zaf, Hippix, Bumics, Rabox, the beloved zathan, moorix, woriks, rolan, Lemmen and Yokees, and NONE OF THEM have the little R. I suspect this has something to do with different countries' copyright law. For instance, maybe in the US diesel is able to get its name 'registered' versus in some european countries this is not possible. Copyright and registration laws vary greatly from country to country so this would not surprise me. I think this debate can be laid to rest - lack of R's on the logo strip should not be considered a flaw or defect!
