We are one group, outside it's dark and wolves are howling, but I have : a story to tell. 這段話好像是所有寫長篇小說的人共感：洞穴、黑暗、阻礙、迷途、暗影、漆黑 看不見前面的路，但感覺到有路可前進，普羅米修斯的火把就在手上 吳爾芙跟愛特伍也都說過類似的話 說寫長篇小說就像提著燈籠走進黑暗的房間，光線照出的只是原來就放在房間裡的東西 或說寫作有關黑暗，有關一種想要進入黑暗的慾望甚至是強迫感 幸運的話，就可以照亮那黑暗，從中帶回一些什麼，然後安全回到那亮處 愛特伍曾以一名醫學院學生對她形容人體內部的話來形容小說家的寫作過程 我覺得也很適合用來形容我讀村上小說的感覺：「裡面黑漆漆的」，充滿漂亮詭異的螢光 --
