這是Bale, J. 1989: Sports Geography裡面的一段，前面是運動地理的定義：
The study of spatial variations in the pursuit of various sports and of the
impact of sporting activities on the landscape. Interest in these topics is
growing, given the increased use of RECREATION and LEISURE in many societies,
as evidenced by the launching of a specialized journal - Sport Place.
以下是我自己翻譯的：(我只翻到第一句完，因為我主要想知道運動地理的定義)
運動地理學：追求不同運動的空間變化，與陸地上運動影響的學說。
但是我覺得翻得好爛...還是不太懂＠＠＂
想請教各位正確的定義>"<
還有就是Bale曾提出三方面有價值的研究方向：
１。Study of the changing spatial pattern of sparts activity, as, for example,
with the DIFFUSION of a new sport from its origin, and the study of sporting
regions, areas identifying with particular sports (cf. LOCALITY);
２。Study of the 'sports landscape' and how it changes, as in the design and
visual impact of stadia and golf courses; and
３。Prescriptions for changing the spatial organization of sport and sporting
landscapes.

1. 改變中的運動活動空間模式的研究。
2. 體育風景的研究和它怎麼改變，在測距儀規正板和高爾夫球場的設計與視覺衝擊。
3. 改變體育和體育風景的空間組織的處方。
