In the minds of many people living in England, (before Australia was
Australia, it was the antipodes,) the opposite pole to civilization, an
obscure and unimaginable place that was considered the end of the world.
(A) before Australia was Australia, it was the antipodes
正確答案就是A。但我不瞭解的是，為何這兩個句子用的是同一個時態？（皆為過去式）
我自己是想不通，為何不是before Australia was Australia, it had been the
antipodes 。 因為Australia是Australia之前，它是antipodes。這個時態不是應該要用
比過去式更早的「過去完成式嗎？」
