Australia, it was the antipodes,) the opposite pole to civilization, an
obscure and unimaginable place that was considered the end of the world.
(A) before Australia was Australia, it was the antipodes
正确答案就是A。但我不了解的是，为何这两个句子用的是同一个时态？（皆为过去式）
我自己是想不通，为何不是before Australia was Australia, it had been the
antipodes 。 因为Australia是Australia之前，它是antipodes。这个时态不是应该要用
比过去式更早的「过去完成式吗？」
