Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry has been named the Western
Conference Rookie of the Month for January, the NBA announced today.
勇士後衛Stephen Curry被選為西區一月份的最佳新秀。
Curry, 21, started all 15 games in January, averaging 19.1 points, 4.4
rebounds, 5.1 assists and 2.00 steals in 39.5 minutes per contest, while
shooting 48.0% (109-227 FG) from the field, 48.6% (36-74 3FG) from
three-point range and 89.2% (33-37 FT) from the line. Among Western
Conference rookies last month, he ranked second in scoring, first in assists,
first in steals, first in minutes, second in three-point percentage, third in
field goal percentage, third in free throw percentage and fifth in
rebounding.

Selected by the Warriors with the seventh overall selection in last June’s
NBA Draft, Curry joined Oklahoma City’s Kevin Durant as the only players in
the NBA in January to average at least 15.0 points per game, while shooting
at least 48.0% from the field, 48.0% from long range and 89.0% from the line.
In fact, according to Elias Sports Bureau, Curry is the first rookie in NBA
history to post such numbers during a full calendar month (minimum five games
played).

Last month, Curry established a career-high with 32 points to go along with
seven assists and four steals against the New Jersey Nets on January 22. The
Davidson University product tied a Warriors’ franchise record by going
6-for-6 from three-point range in a 26-point performance at Denver on January
5. Additionally, he scored 25-or-more points in three consecutive games from
January 22-26, becoming the first Golden State rookie to do so since Latrell
Sprewell in April of 1993. By topping 25 points in four-of-five games from
January 18-26, Curry became the first Warriors’ rookie to do so since Mitch
Richmond in March of 1989.

Curry will represent the Warriors on the Rookie squad in the 2010 Rookie
Challenge at NBA All-Star Weekend in Dallas, TX, on Friday, February 12.

Brandon Jennings of the Milwaukee Bucks was named the Eastern Conference
T-Mobile Rookie of the Month.
