請教一下Azar的習題 講whose的使用 其中一個題目
I have to call the man. I accidentally picked up his umbrella
after the
meeting.
而答案似乎是：
I have to call the man
whose umbrella I accidentally picked up after the
meeting.
有個疑問是該如何判斷子句的範圍，若從以下來看
I have to call the man
whose umbrella I accidentally picked up after the
meeting.
語意似乎會變成這樣?
I have to call the man
after the meeting. I accidentally picked up his
umbrella.
意思就有所不同!?

rule of proximity似乎是用在Subject-Verb Agreement??
主要的問題是假設情境相反，若是一開始先有這句:
I have to call the man whose umbrella I accidentally picked up after the
meeting.
那該如何判斷其語意?
