不好意思，請版友們幫我看一下這句話是什麼意思
The energy expenditure of the subjects' brains increases when a design
that completes the initially recognized pattern is determined.
我看不懂when a design....is determined那裡
前面的部分我理解為「這個實驗對象花費的腦力增加當...」
另外有一段文字可能可以幫助版友理解這裡要講的意思，
我也一併貼上了
An experiment was done in which human subjects recognize a pattern within
a matrix of abstract designs and then select another design that completes
that pattern. The results of the experiment were surprising. The lowest
expenditure of energy in neurons in the brain was found in those subjects who
performed most successfully in the experiments.
