※ 引述《max780126 (翔)》之銘言： : 標題: [文法] many of them 主詞 : 時間: Sun Jun 12 14:31:44 2011 : : 請問 : : Many of them .......... 在整個主詞片語 many of them 裡，many 是核心，of them 介詞片語修飾 many。 : : : 因為想到另外一個例子: : : 這題沒問題，我很確定 : : A number of students are..... : : students是主詞所以動詞要跟他一致 : a number of 是形容詞片語 同樣地，number 是核心，雖然根據原則，動詞一般和核心產生一致，但有少數表示數量 的字後面加 of 名詞時，動詞反而是跟 of 後的名詞一致，如 lot（表數量時）、 number、rest： A lot of money was wasted. A lot of things were wasted. The rest of the meat is over there. The rest of the eggs are over there. A number of students were there. A box of letters was stolen. Two bags of sugar were used. etc.

Many never went to college.
