請教大家兩個問題

可是我聽起來好像不是這麼回事
我也聽不出來是什麼
想請大家給點意見

文稿上寫In that sense, sustainability is direct and immediate.
我聽到的是In that sense, sustainability is a word directed to immediate
issue.
如果audio和text不一樣，但可以解釋得過去，那就算了
可是我無法解釋directed to immediate issue
to後面怎麼會沒有不定冠詞an呢？
那代表我聽錯囉？
那他唸的是什麼呢？
