These included the status of several of the squad players and the possibility of signing new players. What looks to be the case is that Deportivo won’t sign many new players this summer. Lendoiro commented on it that “we already have a very complete squad and it’s difficult to improve it. If nothing exceptional will happen this is the squad for next season. Even the contacts we have had about some players are more aimed at the future because within a year we will make some big signings”. When asked if not signing any new player, after the other Spanish clubs are investing a lot, would disappoint the supporters, Lendoiro said that “they should realize that we already have a great squad and last season we already were very close to winning something”. After it the topic of Barcelona and their interest for Albert Luque came to the table. Lendoiro commented that “I am fed up about this thing with Luque and Barcelona. There hasn’t been a call from them and it’s best if there won’t be one”. Without directly naming the Catalan club, Lendoiro added that “when it’s publicly announced that one wants some players, one should be aware of what they will cost. One should not try to destabilize other clubs because a wish of wearing a shirt won’t get one far. There should be a payment”. Lendoiro indicated that the player could continue at his club although he confirmed the interest of Racing de Santander and Espanyol. The Catalan club have offered €2 million and the player has indicated his wish to leave Deportivo. Lendoiro commented that a deal could be made within a short period of time. Another winger, Amavisca, has already left the club as Deportivo used a clause in his contract which ended his period at the club this summer. Lendoiro also spoke about the tour through Asia and/or the United States which was scheduled for these weeks. The president commented that there won’t be any because the financial compensation didn’t weight up to possible disturbances of the pre-season preparations. ...唉... Lendoiro added that Abreu could leave Deportivo if he doesn’t convince Irureta and that Djalminha is close to signing a deal with Mexican club America. Meanwhile, there’s no debt with Espanyol about Sergio because it was agreed in 2001 that his transfersum (ca €18 million) would be paid in parts. Lendoiro finalized by saying that Jorge Andrade will join the squad on 19 July and Pontevedra are seriously interested in having Dani Mallo and Jose Manuel. --
