The Chicago Cubs signed Rafael Dolis as a shortstop out of the Domin Republic in August of 2004. The twenty-two year old right-hander started pitching in 2006 at the age of 18. Dolis' development has been slowed by Tommy-John surgery ... he missed the entire 2008 season. Dolis has potential to be a top-notch starter, but some think he is better suited a top-tier reliever. Rafael Dolis features a smoking fastball in the mid to upper 90s that can hit triple digits with some sink to it. His slider has been described as a plus pitch in the 86-88 mph range. His change up is pretty solid but it still needs some fine-tuning. Dolis averaged just below four innings per start a season ago.
