標題請教兩個單字之間的差別

affinity 和 potency
potency我找到比較接近的解釋是: ability to effect a purpose.
而affinity我找到在化學上使用的解釋是:
the attraction which takes place, at an insensible distance, between
the heterogeneous particles of bodis, and unites them to form chemical
compounds.
我所研究的領域是有關細胞膜上receptor和ligand之間的關係，
這兩個自有沒有比較明確的區別呢?
