Used by Jose Mourinho in every game since the arrival, Essien has come to terms with the demands of a new league remarkably quickly, earning enthusiastic reviews for his energy, passing, presence and ability to have both an attacking and defensive impact from midfield. He has been central to Chelsea's progress domestically and in Europe.
