永嘉大師證道歌淺釋 (111)
為什麼要走啊?說年紀輕沒有德行,不能住這麼好的房子,這太享受了,太舒服了;不願
意住這個地方,就要回法界贈經會。這些個居士也沒有法子,於是乎就叫他們回贈經會。
贈經會沒有暖氣,就給他們買一個熱水的取暖的東西,用了幾千塊錢,又要請人來裝。他
們也不許可裝,說如果你們裝上這個東西,我們隨時就走了。那麼這樣子,他們也就不敢
裝那個熱水的暖氣了!
Why? They said they were young and did not have sufficient virtue to stay in s
uch a fine house. It was too indulgent and too comfortable, thus they did not
want to stay there and wanted to go back to the Dharma Realm Buddhist Books Di
stribution Society. The Taiwanese laity could not do anything but to let the
three monks return to the Buddhist Books Distribution Society. That place, how
ever, did not have a heater, so the laity decided to spend a few thousand Taiw
anese dollars to buy one. However, the three monks did not allow the heater to
be installed. They said that as soon as the heater was installed, they would
leave. So the laity had no choice but not to install the heater.
講經的時候,居士要拍電影,左照一個相,右照一個相;他們又發表意見了,說我們在萬
佛城的人,誰也不出風頭,誰也不想把自己弄得很有名譽的,我們避免這搞名搞譽。所以
就叫他們不要再照相;如果再照相嘛,以後再也不到臺灣了。臺灣這一些個居士一聽,他
們這種種的不同意;這個也不同意,那個也不同意,這些個居士就說,喔!這回我們知道
萬佛城哪,萬佛聖城一切一切真都是真的,不是在騙人。
Then, during the Dharma lectures, lay people started to take pictures; they sn
apped pictures left and right, and the monks expressed their disapproval. They
said, “Coming from the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas, we do not seek the lime
light; we do not seek for fame, and we try to avoid making a name for ourselve
s. So please do not take any more pictures. If you insist, we will not come to
Taiwan again in the future.” Upon hearing that, the Taiwanese laity thought,
“These monks do not agree to this and that. Now we understand that everythin
g at the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas is really genuine. They do not cheat peo
ple at all.”
由這個三位到臺灣,影響臺灣的一些個佛教徒也都真正發了菩提心了;天天看他們覺得很
虔誠地,這是說臺灣佛教裏邊從來沒有的事情。今晚藉這個機會,我來和大家講一講他們
到臺灣的情形,告訴告訴你們各位。
In Taiwan, these three monks had influenced the Taiwanese disciples to truly b
ring forth the Bodhi resolve. This was because every day they saw how sincere
these monks were, something they had never seen before in Taiwanese Buddhism.
I am taking this opportunity tonight to tell you what happened when they visit
ed Taiwan.
四十二章經淺釋
第十二章‧舉難勸修
不輕未學難:各位先出家的,都要知道這一點,對沒有學佛法的,你不能輕慢他;你若輕
慢他,那就叫輕慢未學了。對不懂佛法的人,你應該用種種的方便法門來教化他,不應該
輕慢他,不可輕忽他,不可對他很不客氣的。
雜阿含經四十六 :
佛對波斯匿王說四不可輕:
一、太子雖小,當為國王,是不可輕。
二、蛇子雖小,毒能殺人,又不可輕。
三、小火雖微,能燒山野,又不可輕。
四、沙彌雖小,能得聖而有神通,最不可輕。
心行平等難:你這個心,要行慈悲平等是不容易的,但是也要去做。
不說是非難:人人多數都歡喜講是講非的,若能不說是非,這是很難的一件事。
會善知識難:會,就是遇。你能遇到善知識,這也是不容易的。你看人人學道,遇到的多
數都是糊里八塗的。善知識他不糊塗,不會教你走到錯路上去。修道的人一定要聽善知識
的話;不聽善知識的話,在你還沒有證果之前,就信自己,任自己的性,那是不行的,終
究會墮落、終究會招魔障的。所以一定要親近善知識,聽善知識的教化,這是說會善知識
難。
第28章 意馬莫縱
佛言:慎勿信汝意,汝意不可信。
慎勿與色會,色會即禍生。
得阿羅漢已,乃可信汝意。
見性學道難:學道的人不容易明心見性,學道要能明心見性,這也是不容易的一件事。
隨化度人難:隨緣隨份來教化眾生,這也是不容易的一件事。
睹境不動難:你遇到什麼境界,能不被這境界所轉動,而能轉動境界,這一件事也是不容
易的。
六祖壇經:
外若著相,內心即亂;外若離相,心即不亂。
本性自淨自定,只為見境,思境即亂。
若見諸境心不亂者,是真定也。
善解方便難:你能明白什麼是方便法,用它來教化眾生,這也是不容易的一件事。
