http://www.wretch.cc/blog/galeer Camera Obscura- (2005) I Love My Jean [ep] 十八世紀蘇格蘭啟蒙運動(Scottish enlightenment)，愛丁堡與格拉 斯哥孕育了哈奇森(Francis Hutcheson)、斯密(Adam Smith)、休姆 (David Hume)、弗格森(Adam Ferguson)等一大批天才，其學術水 準遠勝於當時的倫敦。而相對於機械、唯理的法國啟蒙運動， 自由主義大師海耶克(F.A.Hayek)高度評價蘇格蘭理論家，為其 市場逐步演進、自發秩序(spontaneous order)主張的智識淵源。 即使作為大不列顛的一部份，蘇格蘭仍保有高度的自我認同， 近年來的獨立與自治運動蓬勃發展。司各特(Walter Scott)的騎士 浪漫小說、史蒂文森(Robert Louis Stevenson)的冒險故事，尤其 是柏恩斯(Robert Burns、1759-1796)的詩歌，都是重構蘇格蘭民 族認同的文化養分。 除了威士忌、蓋爾語、風笛、蘇格蘭裙，從Jesus And Mary Chain、 Teenage Fanclub 到Arab Strap、Belle And Sebastian、Delgados、 Travis等1980年代之後的蘇格蘭搖滾音樂更是我心中的最愛，但 在全球化影響之下，即使從語言與腔調，要區別搖滾音樂裡其 中特有的民族特質，也顯得細微而隱晦。若能從縈繞於心的旋 律歌詞裡，辨識出蘇格蘭搖滾樂隊如何吸收轉化歷史與文化元 素，應該可以更深入瞭解音樂裡的情感與意念。 Camera Obscure的新EP「I Love My Jean」(2005)將三首蘇格蘭抒 情詩人柏恩斯的作品賦予新生命，翻唱成陽光帶著淡淡憂傷的 indie pop，讓人感受到兩百年前蘇格蘭的春天氣息，毫無時空 隔閡，這些詩的確具有永恆的美感，像是Camera Obscure唱著柏 恩斯的詩「一朵紅紅的玫瑰 」，極為甜蜜動人。 A Red, Red Rose O my Luve's like a red, red rose That's newly sprung in June: O my Luve's like the melodie That's sweetly play'd in tune!
