烏鴉不清楚別人的搜尋思路是怎麼樣子的,
但是烏鴉可以分享烏鴉的思路給您參考.
遇到這類看似基本卻沒人可以完整的回答的問題,
通常烏鴉會先去各家生技公司查相關產品 (NEB, Invitrogen, Promega...)
通常產品都會有相關描述, 比如說可以找到:
DH5a Cells

DH5a is a well-known, versatile strain that can be used in many everyday
cloning applications. In addition to supporting blue/white screening,
recA1 and endA1 mutations in DH5a increase insert stability and
improve the quality of plasmid DNA prepared from minipreps.

Greatly increased plasmid yield and quality due to endA1 mutation

這樣子就可以猜的出來是因為該種菌株裡面所有的基因不同,
所以可以有適合不同的功能.
至於為什麼那種基因可以增加 insert 穩定性;
為什麼那個基因可以增加 plasmid 的產量跟品質?
這種時候烏鴉就會看看該產品他們有沒有提供相關的期刊來源鏈結,
沒有的話就去 NCBI 找找, 要不就很簡單的把那個基因的關鍵字丟到
Google 上面去找... 不過後面的事情就很耗時間了...
除非無聊要跟人辯東辯西的, 通常不會去弄... ._.||
