But when Wenger first met the players he was shocked by their eating habits. 第一天溫格會見球員時,他非常訝異他們的飲食習慣.. He said: "I banned those chocolate bars the players were stuffing themselves with. "On the bus to Blackburn (for Wenger's first game in charge), the players were chanting 'We want our chocolate bars'. 在溫格第一場執教比賽前(對課本)的球隊巴士上, 球員們高聲唱著「我們要我們的巧克力棒～」以強烈表示對命令的不滿.. Wenger also revealed how his team reacted to his first team talk. He added: "At halftime, they expected me to yell like a madman and I didn't say a thing. 教授也回憶起第一場比賽的中場訓話時刻, 球員們已經習慣以前的教練在更衣室裡大聲斥責, 非常驚訝教授當天竟然沒說一句話.. "They were used to being shouted at." 「他們已經太習慣被咆哮了」 Despite living in England for so long, the Arsenal manager said he still sees himself as a Frenchman. 溫格還提到雖然已經住在倫敦這麼多個年頭, 他仍然視自己是一個法國人, "I'm French. I have not become an Englishman. 「我的生活方式還是像個法國人,我還沒有變成像一個英國人」 "I have the impression of living on an island called Arsenal. 「我就像住在一個叫做『阿森納』的島上一樣,」 "If you fancy a sightseeing tour of London, don't ask me.
