The Giallorossi star bagged a brace to fire La Nazionale to three precious points for the Group 8 world cup qualifying campaign. After the game De Rossi dedicated the win to his father-in-law Massimo Pisnoli, who was murdered in Rome last month. The Police are currently investigating the murder and a man has been arrested. The Italian Police Association has slammed the midfielder for the dedication as they believe it was irresponsible and that it could influence the investigation into the crime. "We expected more cautious words from someone like De Rossi, who could influence millions of people, given the fact that there is still an on-going investigation into what happened," read a statement released by the SAP (Sindacato Autonomo Di Polizia). "Considering that it is September 11, De Rossi could have dedicated the win to the victims of terrorism or even to the Georgian’s who have been suffering from the recent conflicts. "A more cautious approach would have been better but we can, in part, understand that he has lost a relative. However, this situation could have been avoided." De Rossi is unlikely to get into trouble following his comments but the Police Association argue that what he said may affect the legal proceedings regarding the murder.
