Still you say nothing.
Still this quietude deafens me.
It deafens with the noise of a thousand rejections,
cold and hungry at the door.
I love you to pieces.
I want to hug you to bits,
to kiss you until you shatter,
shatter into a decillion shards.
Some will be of passion and joy;
others of passion and sorrow;
still others, just passion.
Passion, just like the sound and the fury that you,
every night,
ignite.
Notice----notice carefully!----how,
when we hold each other, facing or away,
we fit perfectly,
as if we were neighbors in the same dismantled puzzle who clinged together,
come what may.
Pay close attention now!
Observe how grammatically your face, your waist,
your breasts fit into my hands;
not if I were Pygmalion and you my Galatea would a better fit be found;
yet you are no statue of mine.
These lines, they fall in the arc of a fountain,
a fountain whose Manneken Pis changes clothes on occasion,
but always remains in the same state.
When I lie in the middle,
Grand Place is full of you.
