标题[请益] Dante Inferno translated by Longfellow

Inferno Canto 01
And a she-wolf, that with all hungerings
Seemed to be laden in her meagreness,
And many folk has caused to live forlorn!

想问为什麽这里的"many folk has"不是用"have"?
因为我对於英诗完全没有研究，只是刚好走进书店，
翻了一翻，想说是不是Longfellow写错，可是又觉得
这是在开头的前几页，写错的机率应该实在不大，应
该是自己见识浅薄，所以才上版请益，希望有研究的
大德能够不吝指教，谢谢。
