其他西欧上的主要国家 几乎都在三十年战争中杀得血流成河 打得跟猪头一样 法国的损失相对轻微地多 此外 日耳曼地区因三十年战争受创很深 但就这样认为日耳曼从此成为文化沙漠也太武断 因为差不多在同时间 法国在李希留和他的徒子徒孙的努力经营下　展开具有近代意义的统一的工作 (或是达太安和他那三个快乐的火枪手的吃饭 睡觉 婊英国之旅) 确立了有效的官僚制度 使权力愈来愈往中央靠拢 没有这些建树　败家王路易十四想败也没得败 日耳曼地区在战争後并非真的一厥不振 很多君主 文人们都很努力地在建设 只是和之後成为欧洲霸权的法国和未来日益强盛的英国相比较 日耳曼在战後一百多年间的表现就显得苍白无力了 ※ 引述《ofpurity (purity)》之铭言： : The devastation caused by the war has long been a subject of controversy : among historians.
